2nd Annual Paul J. Sciullo Street Hockey Classic        September 4 - 5, 2010         Osceola Park

ABOUT PAUL

Paul was born on November 26, 1972. He immediately owned the hearts of his Mom, Sue and Dad, Max.  His name, Paul John Rizzo Domenic Sciullo II was a big name indeed. But he was bigger and better than anything. Everything he did, he did well and almost always, walked away with the biggest trophies and awards they had! And he smiled through all of it!

Paul was the youngest of three. He has two sisters, Laura and Julia. He was a proud Uncle to his niece, Anna, who was his “Little Princess,” and to his three nephews, David, Luke and Mark. Uncle Paul will always be their hero! Paul was always surrounded by his very large family, aunts, uncles, cousins and very close friends. He grew up on Pearl Street in the same house his father grew up in. Walking right up the hill to attend grade school at St. Joseph. Walking (or running) to the REC for swimming, Osceola Park for street hockey and Dean’s Field for baseball for so many years of his wonderful life. He went to Central Catholic H.S. He played both ice hockey and golf. He was Captain of the hockey team.  Duquesne University gave Paul an academic & golf scholarship to attend their school. There he played both golf and ice hockey also, was on the Dean’s List and was a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. Paul received his Bachelor Degree in Psychology.

After graduation, Paul tried different jobs as an assistant to a golf pro, and as a computer programmer & consultant. But he wasn’t satisfied. Then he made the biggest decision of his life two years ago when he decided to become a police officer for the City of Pittsburgh. He wanted to make a difference. He was very dedicated to being the best cop he could be, and he did so with the grace, dignity and pride that he always displayed in every aspect of his life. His sense of humor was as unique as he was. Always in fun, he was honest to a fault and relentless as can be! Nothing or no one was safe from Paul’s humorous ways.  We are very proud and honored that Paul was and always will be a huge part of our lives.

Paul received the highest honor presented by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the “MEDAL OF VALOR”, and the “PURPLE HEART” for his sacrifice on
4-4-09.

We will miss him every day. And every day, we will cherish the fond memories we have of him. He is and always will be “The Love Of Our Lives.”

The Rizz was a very close brother to Steve Sciullo, once you saw one you saw the other, even though they were cousins you would have thought they were brothers. They shared many happy times together until Paul's untimely death.

Paulie's closest friends were Phil and Ted Ricci, Raymond Vivio, David Runco and Timmy "OX" Enright.
